Empowering superintendents to create a literacy legacy.

Literacy - The Human Right of the 21st Century

We have a literacy crisis in our nation. Major changes are occurring in literacy instruction across the nation. Numerous states, including Texas, are enacting legislation to mandate that teachers learn the science of teaching reading. Literacy Champions was created to empower superintendents with access to experts on the cusp of cutting edge best practices to scale the crucial work of literacy success for all.

About the Course

Literacy Champions will connect with industry experts and identify ways to implement the science of teaching reading (STR) using a case-based learning approach that aims to bridge the gap between research and practice in reading instruction.

Sticking to the Science

Aligning instruction with the science of teaching reading is the most effective method for most kids, and 95% of children will learn to read with effective instruction.

Bridging the Gap

Our collaborative case-based learning approach establishes literacy as a human right for all students.

Leadership is essential for closing the literacy gap.

Starting in January 2022, superintendents will collaborate with each other during 7 virtual or blended sessions to collectively learn about the Science of Teaching Reading (STR) and identify ways to implement STR in their districts. On June 24, 2022, participants will gather in person and be officially titled a Literacy Champion!
